Wondering what to wear over the festive period? A little velvet dress of course! Above are some of my favourite designs. And all the perfect silhouettes for hiding any over indulgences on yummy foody treats. Comfort and glamour all in one little dress, perfect!
Peter Jenson at Urban Outfitters £320.00. Completely out of budget but I just adore the colour and pattern.
Dahlia Embroidered Velvet Dress £65.00. LVD perfection!
River Island Clesea Girl Rust Velvet dress £35.00. How beautiful is this colour?
Asos swing dress in velvet dress £65.00. The perfect shape to hide those gazillion sneaky mince pies that I've been scoffing!
Happy Holidays!

Boutique of the week: Miss Selfridge...
Leopard Faux fur coat £89.00
Berry Polo Neck Jumper £32.00
Dogtooth print skinny trousers £35.00
Green leather Hana stachel £55.00
Dino Purple Croc Ballerinas £18.00
All the above are available on line.
Photos sourced from here.
This weeks outfit includes a bit of a print clash with the leopard print faux fur and the dogtooth check which I'm kinda loving. I think by keeping the rest of the outfit in block colours it doesnt get too much and both items have time to shine but still compliment each other, what do you think? It's still got that whole 60's style vibe going on which as you know I'm a fan of, so of course I would accompany this look with a bit of dark red lippy and backcombed 'do. I dont normally shop in Miss Selfridge but they have got some really nice pieces in stock at the moment so go check them out.

All a twitter...
Asos Bird Print 40's style tea dress £50.00
Ebay Bird Wall Art
Nadinoo's A bird a day dress £155.00
Not on the high street Hand printed bird cushions £30.00
Orla Keily Birdie Wool Jacqaurd Shirt dress £325.00
Urban Outfitters Bird Jewellery Stand £15.00
Asos Bird Print Tunic £35.00
Ooh I'm all a twitter with an Autumn print trend that seems to be emerging. Pretty little birdies are printed everywhere at the moment from lovely day dresses to cute homewares... the bird print has definitely taken flight (please excuse the puns, I can't help myself!)
My absolute favourite prints are by the boutique designer Nadinoo. Their Autumn Winter Collection is just gorgeous not only for the beautifully cut silhouettes but for their original, bird print fabrics.
For the more purse friendly options Asos are suitably stocked, I would scoop that fabulous 40's tea dress up in an instant, if only I wasnt trying to be good and spend my money solely on Christmas presents at the moment.
Oh well window shopping it is then, sigh!

Boutique of the week: Topshop...
Oatmeal Fur Collar Coat £110.00
Button Tab Gloves £10.00
Daisy Wrap Tea Dress £40.00
Forest Rib Over the Knee Socks £6.00
KAYLA Chelsea Shoes £60.00
Tweed Vanity Case £38.00
So this week's look is a bit more layered up for the colder months ahead and stars the most important piece in a Autumn/Winter wardrobe...the Big Coat. If you've read my blog from the beginning you will know about my traumas of the Big Coat Connundrum which I seem to experience every year without fail. Does anyone else have this problem?
Autumn is my very favourite season as I think the darker colour palette suits my style and complexion more than the paler colours of Summer. Every thinkable shade of brown, jewel-like jade greens and rich berry colours have crept into my wardobe over the last couple of months and I've never been happier getting dressed on a morning!
When I spied this beautiful coat in Topshop this week it was love at first sight, it's Fall personified. And how adorable is the tweed vanity case, I think I would prefer it, if it had a different coloured trim but hey its still a beauty! I can just imagine having a lovely stroll through the park in this outfit on a crisp, sunny Autumnal day, scrunching the leaves beneath those comfy looking chelsea shoes....just beautiful!

The genius that is Nauticoco ...
So as mentioned in my last post I wanted to share with you a new discovery called Nauticoco. I first came across this wonderful brand in Grazia magazine where they were featured on the news pages and was so intrigued I just had to find out more. They produce the most adorable 100% silk peter pan style add on collars. They come in a beautiful array of colours and styles which can be worn with anything from a t-shirt to a dress. Simply genius!
The styles are divided up into collections which makes it so easy to shop and to choose which colour and style is best for you. You can choose from....
the Nautical collection for all you stripe lovers out there...
the Bright Sparks for those of you who are feeling bold and love to colour block...
or finally the Ballet Beautiful collection for those of you who like the more classic, pretty side of things.
Below are my favourite styles from each of the collections.
Newton Collar in Navy £34.99 (Nautical)
Hepburn collar in white £59.99 (Ballet Beautiful)As featured in my previous post.
Watson collar in red £44.99(Bright Sparks)
I just think these collars are such a good idea and could be incorpated into all sorts of different outfits. I know the price points are quite high but they are 100% silk and I think that because they are such a classic accessory, you would definitely be able to wear it season after season and get your pounds per wear!
I caught up with the lovely Alison from Nauticoco to find out a bit more about the brand and whats in store for the future....
1) Describe the brand in 3 words?
Feminine, Directional, Cute
2) Who is the 'Nauticoco' girl?
If we had to choose a muse, it would be the beautiful stylist Caroline Sieber, she is the epitome of modern day chic with a look that is reminiscent of flawless French songstress Charlotte Gainsburg, we would love her to style the Nauticoco collars into one of her looks.3) What/who inspires Nauticoco?
3) What/who inspires Nauticoco?
Nauticoco has taken inspiration from different era's in fashion, the 1940s with its fitted tailored dresses and pussy bow blouses, delicate tops and cropped cardigans, topped with fur detailing and pearls and the iconic style of Audrey Hepburn which inspired out best selling 'Hepburn Collar'. We also looked to the 1960s with its beautiful tunic style dresses, cocoon coats, peter pan collars, twin-sets and a-line mini's, this era that included style icons such as Mary Quant, Twiggy and Mia Farrow, inspired our range of brightly coloured Portman Collars and two-tone Bowsorth and Newton collars.
4) What would be Nauticoco's ideal Autumn outfit?

The Hidden Lane Tearoom in Glasgow.....
I was recommended to try out this little place by a friend who lives and works in the area. She is aware of my penchant for all things tea related and as I was working in Glasgow this week I thought it would be rude not to go check it out!
The Hidden Lane Tearoom really does live up to the name and it took me a few minutes driving around and scouring the street for signposts before I finally stumbled across the location. Once located and food and beverages ordered I was able to take in my cosy surroundings.
The decor is very much cobbled together but it definitely adds charm and warmth to the place and anywhere that serves food and drink in vintage crockery is brilliant in my book!
I had a ham, cheese and tomato mayo sandwich and it was delicious. They use fresh local produce and the quality shines through. For a naughty treat I sampled one of their delightful homemade cupcakes, almost too pretty to eat, and had a good old pot of Tetley tea. (sometimes you just cant beat it!)
Overall a really lovely, friendly, cosy place to eat lunch. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area. For the address and more details check out the blog http://thehiddenlanetearoom.blogspot.com

P.S. They also cater for vintage hen parties and the vintage crockery is for sale too, cool huh!

Bit of a summery outfit but I actually put this together when we still had a bit of warmth in the air. Not quite sure what is happening with our old British summer time at the moment though as it feels more like Autumn as I sit and write this, wrapped up in a hoody, drinking a big cup of tea to keep warm! Who would have guessed it was August?? Bizarre. Oh well gives me a good excuse to get on with choosing my Autumn wardrobe. Woohoo....like I need an excuse!
What are going to be your Autumn must haves?
